چکیده

The dynamics of classical φ theory under weak and strong thermal gradients is studied. We obtain the thermal conductivity of the theory including its temperature dependence. Under moderately strong thermal gradients, the temperature profiles become visibly non-linear, yet the phenomenon can be understood using the linear response theory. When we move further away from equilibrium, we find that the linear response theory eventually breaks down, and the concept of local equilibrium also fails.

Bulk Properties of Anharmonic Chains in Strong Thermal Gradients: Non-Equilibrium φ Theory

We study nonequilibrium properties of a one-dimensional lattice Hamiltonian with quartic interactions in strong thermal gradients. Nonequilibrium temperature profiles, T (x), are found to develop significant curvature and boundary jumps. From the determination of the bulk thermal conductivity, we develop a quantitative description of T (x) including the jumps. PACs numbers: 05.70.Ln, 05.60.-k, ...

A New Class of Bounds for Correlation Functions in Euclidean Lattice Field Theory and Statistical Mechanics of Spin Systems

Starting from an extension of the Poisson bracket structure and Kubo-MartinSchwinger-property of classical statistical mechanics of continuous systems to spin systems, defined on a lattice, we derive a series of, as we think, new and interesting bounds on correlation functions for general lattice systems. Our method is expected to yield also useful results in Euclidean Field Theory. Furthermore...

Magnetic Properties in a Spin-1 Random Transverse Ising Model on Square Lattice

In this paper we investigate the effect of a random transverse field, distributed according to a trimodal distribution, on the phase diagram and magnetic properties of a two-dimensional lattice (square with z=4),  ferromagnetic Ising system consisting of magnetic atoms with spin-1. This study is done using the effectivefield theory (EFT) with correlations method. The equations are derived using...

Hot B violation , the lattice , and hard thermal loops

It has recently been argued that the rate per unit volume of baryon number violation (topological transitions) in the hot, symmetric phase of electroweak theory is of the form η αwT 4 in the weak-coupling limit, where η is a nonperturbative numerical coefficient. Over the past several years, there have been attempts to extract the rate of baryon number violation from real-time simulations of cl...

The Strong-Coupling Expansion and the Ultra-local Approximation in Field Theory

We discuss the strong-coupling expansion in Euclidean field theory. In a formal representation for the Schwinger functional, we treat the off-diagonal terms of the Gaussian factor as a perturbation about the remaining terms of the functional integral. In this way, we develop a perturbative expansion around the ultra-local model, where fields defined at different points of Euclidean space are de...
